Julie Roy
Artistic Director
Choral conductor, pianist and singer, Julie has been active in the choral world for many years.
Biography
A trained pianist, Julie also sang with Les Petits Chanteurs de Laval for 9 years, where she developed a real passion for choral singing. She continued to perform in various semi-professional vocal ensembles such as La Ceilagh directed by Michael Zaugg in 2009 and 2010. She was also a member of several student choirs for the Master of Choral Conducting program in Sherbrooke.
As a result of her many experiences, Julie has had the opportunity to work with several choirs in the Montreal area as a coach. She helped found the children’s choir « Les Petites Voix du Plateau », where she was group leader for 3 years. For the past 8 years, she has worked as a group leader and coach with Les Petits Chanteurs de Laval. Julie also has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in audiology, which sets her apart from many in her field. She draws many parallels between her professional expertise in sound and hearing and her choral teaching.
Julie began her career with the CGDM in 2008 as a piano coach. She is now the choir’s artistic director, and has been since 2015. Her dynamism, commitment and, above all, love for the choir and its choristers contribute greatly to the sense of belonging which binds them together.
Lorenzo Somma
Pianist
Choral conductor, pianist, musical director and teacher.
Biography
Lorenzo Somma is an active musician on the Quebec music scene. As a jazz pianist, he studied with Pierre Leduc, Lorraine Desmarais and Yves LĂ©veillĂ©. Through various collaborations with vocal ensembles, he is increasingly specialized in directing children’s choirs. Lorenzo shares his love of choral singing at various choral gatherings and music camps. His first collaboration with Serge Denoncourt was as chorus master for the Just for Laughs musical Les Choristes, a partnership he renewed for the musicals Annie and Hair, where he was musical director. He is regularly invited to prepare singers for television programs and major shows. Lorenzo holds a master’s degree in choral conducting from McGill University.
Andréanne Muzzo
Pianist
Biography
Andréanne Muzzo is a pianist, songwriter, and singer who is very active on the Quebec music scene. Trained in jazz piano at McGill University, she later turned toward writing and composition, notably with her band Les Passagers, with whom she released three EPs and two full-length albums, and toured extensively across Canada and Europe.
In recent years, Muzzo has also been writing and composing for other performers and has created music for television. She notably contributed seven songs to the very popular children’s show Passe-Partout. As a keyboardist, she has recently performed alongside artists such as Noé Lira, Tire le Coyote, and Marilou.
Claudia Meunier
Choreographer
Biography
Trained in sports dance (Latin and standard), urban dance and jazz, she has performed in many Canadian and American cities. She has taken part in several major projects: OpĂ©ra de MontrĂ©al’s JFK, the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Just for Laughs Festival and many others. She has shared the stage with a host of Canadian artists, including SonReal, Alessia Cara, Dean Brody, Dallas Smith, Mario Jean, Rachid Badouri, Dumas and Jacynthe, as well as international artists such as One Republic, Florence Foresti and Seth Rogen. She has appeared on En direct de l’univers (Radio-Canada), Les dieux de la danse (Radio-Canada), Le show de Rousseau (V-TĂ©lĂ©), Marina Orsini (Radio-Canada), OOPS (RDS), Karv l’anti-gala (Vrak TV), Fan Club (Vrak TV), le dĂ©fi des champions (TVA), Plus sur Commande (Musique Plus), Morning News (Global TV) and in music videos for Les Trois Accords, Jacynthe, Karl Wolf and The Bilz Feat. Kashif. She starred alongside Kit Harington in Xavier Dolan’s The Death and The life of John F. Donovan, and Nico Archambault and Mylène Saint-Sauveur in the film Sur le rythme.
Claudia is also a choreographer on various productions such as KĂ„NAM EXPERIENCE and KABARET, the musical, in residence at ThĂ©Ă¢tre Saint-Sauveur in summer 2018. She has choreographed for various choirs such as Les voix BorĂ©ales, Les petits chanteurs de Laval and St-Goerge’s school of Montreal Choir.
